Silent Resilience

Silent Resilience
by, Melissa R. Mendelson

They sat in silence,
watching the world
rise and fall
in every breath,
taking in all
that is beauty,
which fought to stay
but was now left to fade.
And Time was not kind.
As they watched lives pass,
the world turn,
they crumbled
with each bitter moment
of history,
our strong foundation
now left open to ruin.
Yet, they still remain,
and they sit in silence,
refusing to break,
hoping the world will take notice
to stand ground
and become strong.
